SMALL BUSINESS PROJECT

In order to encourage self-dependence amongst the underprivileged members of the Muslim community, the Majlis launched the Small Business Project Program to benefit mainly unemployed Muslim families.

Under this program the Majlis established a rotating fund from which soft loans are provided to those interested in venturing into income generating projects of their choice.  Whilst the capital is provided in kind, beneficiaries are expected to maximise their profits in order that they achieve self-sufficiency and become productive members of society.  The most successful projects are those in the fields of dressmaking, metal fabrication, agriculture, transport and retail.  Those brothers and sisters whose projects are successful are granted further assistance should they need capital injection to expand their projects.  So far over 600 families have benefited from the program since it was launched a few years ago.
